Life’s Other Kingdom

As I wither in life’s other kingdom,
That one where mortals may spend but a while
Or linger until expiration creeps,
I’m trapped as if beyond the worldly plain
In hollow sphere where senses fall away
And in their place sensation from within
Rules mind and body both with flame and thirst,
Heeding not the world but its master, time.
Though it appears not life nor death exist,
In truth, they both hold places in this realm,
One in memory, one in wondrous fear;
But notions they remain till the return.
For all will find the kingdom for a time;
Some will stay, but most will trek back to life.
